In 2019, the average cost of healthcare in the United States was $11,462. In 2022, this figure rose to $12,530. At the end of 2019, research by the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that the total medical debt in the US has reached at least $195 billion, with the figure expected to rise to account for debt incurred during the Covid-19 pandemic.
